  • Motivating Project Teams

This presentation by best-selling project management author Andy Crowe explores the topic of motivating project teams to operate at their peak performance. In his high-energy style, Crowe weaves existing motivational studies with cutting edge behavioral research to unlock how project managers can channel the underlying motivation of individuals and teams. By exploring such topics as contingent, intrinsic, and extrinsic motivators, managers will be exposed to techniques they can immediately put into practice to help their teams operate at their full capacity.

Asking the questions “What Motivates YOU?” and “What motivates YOUR TEAM?”, this presentation explores the differences in response from Senior Management versus Project Managers. Drawing on data from the Alpha Study, an intensive, professional survey of over 5,000 project managers and stakeholders, Crowe highlights the three most important project management skills ranked by Senior Management. Crowe also delves deep into the various motivational theories out there, and explains how to increase Intrinsic Motivation among your team members.

  • Alpha Project Managers: What the Top 2% Do Differently

Good project management is critical to an organization’s success. A recent study conducted by the Project Management Institute indicated that less than two thirds of all projects actually meet their goals and their business intent, with about 17% just failing altogether. That’s a lot of wasted time and money! Imagine then, having access to the top project managers from organizations and industries around the world. Imagine uncovering what they do, how they approach their challenges, and what they know.

Project management author Andy Crowe did just that with The Alpha Study, a landmark survey of over 5,000 project managers and stakeholders. Through in-depth interviews and discussions, the common attributes of the most elite project managers—from character and beliefs to organizational approaches—were uncovered and explored. This presentation shares findings from the Alpha study, getting you inside the minds of the top managers (the “Alphas”) and sharing their practices, their attitudes, and their secrets.

It will explore eight major areas where the top performers stand apart from everyone else: Attitude and Belief, Focus and Prioritization, Communication, Approach, Relationships and Conflict, Alignment, Issue Management, and Leadership. Alpha Project Managers takes you beyond theory to help you understand the real and perceived differences that separate the top project managers from everyone else. You’ll learn how your company’s project managers can incorporate these same characteristics, skills and successes into their own management style.
