Velociteach Wins Business Community Service Award

Home The Savvy PM Blog Velociteach Wins Business Community Service Award

61 This week, Velociteach was honored with Georgia Trend’s and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce’s Business Community Service Award. The award is given each year to one large business and one small business for service to the non-profit community. This year’s large business winner was IBM, and Velociteach and Glory Haus were co-awarded the small business award in a tie vote.

We were nominated by MUST Ministries (serving the homeless and others in need), Toys For Tots, and Parakaleo . For MUST, Velociteach developed and deployed a Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint course to train (or retrain) people in fundamental Microsoft Office skills. Our core competency in training made this a natural fit. For Toys for Tots, Velociteach serves each year as a local drop off/pickup coordinator. Every November and December our office is full of Toys for Tots boxes and toys, and our employees make drop-offs and pickups all over the Atlanta area. Velociteach also donated significant financial resources to support Parakaleo’s mission.

Velociteach has a policy of allowing every employee 5% of his or her working time to volunteer for a local not-for-profit organization of his or her choosing, and currently 100% of our employees participate in community service activities.

We are honored to have received this year’s Sam Olens Business Community Service Award, and we plan on continuing to grow our service right along with our business.
